CLASSICAL ROME

(ST. PETER’S BASILICA, CASTLE SANT’ANGELO, NAVONA SQUARE,
PANTHEON, TREVI FOUNTAIN)

An itinerary on foot and, eventually, by public means of transport (not included in rates) to the sightseeing of the Classical monuments of Rome.
The tour begins with the visit of St. Peter’s Square and of the Basilica, with the famous statue “ La Pietà” by Michelangelo Buonarroti and the Sacred Caves where the tombs of the Popes are to be found. Passing alongside the impressive Castle Sant’Angelo, we will arrive to Navona Square, the jewel of the Baroque, built on the old stadium of Domiziano. Just few steps from it, we can admire another masterpiece of the antique Rome: the old temple of Pantheon, with the largest masonry vault ever built. The tour ends with the visit of the magnificent Trevi Fountain, the work of art in baroque and neo-classical style,

IMPERIAL ROME

(CIRCUS MAXIMUS, COLOSSEUM, ROMAN FORUM, CAMPIDOGLIO,

Arriving by underground to the Circus Maximus, the tour continues with the external visit of the symbol of the town, the Colosseum, the most beautiful and magnificent amphitheatre of the Roman age. Then we carry on along Via dei Fori Imperiali, in the archaeological area In which the Roman culture was born. The following stop is the Campidoglio square, realized by Michelangelo, now the centre of the town council. Few steps far from here is Venice Square, with the Vittoriano, the imposing monument dedicated to King Victor Emanuel II of Savoy, and the Altar of the Fatherland, tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

CHRISTIAN ROME

(CATHEDRAL OF SAINT JOHN LATERAN AND THE HOLY STAIRCASE,
BASILICA OF SAINT MARY MAJOR)

This itinerary starts with visiting two fundamental churches for catholic people, both property of the Vatican City. The first is Saint John Lateran, the oldest church of the world as being the first official centre of Christian cult, and in front of it you can admire the Holy Staircase. By underground we get off near the Termini Station, where we can find the third important patriarchal Roman basilica, rich of splendid mosaics: Saint Mary Major.
